Skylight Wallet is free and open-source, and you have full custody of your funds. It is more efficient than other wallets that perform transaction scanning on the device. Skylight Wallet protects your privacy and is developed by a public charity.

Unlike most Monero wallets, Skylight Wallet offloads wallet scanning from your device to a light-wallet server. This server uses your private view key to detect related transactions, and it only sends you those transactions. This process is efficient, but it grants the server operator knowledge of your transactions. This is not an issue if the server is run by you or a trusted friend or family member, but you should not give your private view key to an untrusted server.

Yes, somewhat. Monero LWS does not support subaddresses by default, so you need to configure LWS to support subaddresses. If you do, then Skylight Wallet will automatically show you a fresh, unused subaddress each time. Ideally, LWS would support a feature to clearly tell a wallet if it supports subaddresses for us to more seamlessly support subaddresses.

Mostly. Monero will always be a major focus of Skylight Wallet. While we don't intend to make a general multi-currency wallet, we intend to support decentralized exchanges that support Monero, and these decentralized exchanges may have their own tokens. In short, we aim to be a "Monero first" wallet, but not necessarily a "Monero only" wallet.

Monero LWS is not hightly used. MyMonero used its own implementation, and there weren't many good ways to truly run your own LWS with a modern experience. When building this app, we helped test Monero LWS itself in a way that has not been done enough prior. This led to us squashing a fair number of bugs before you could experience them!

Skylight Wallet is a freshly made wallet, but it is partially built on other open-source software. Notably, Skylight Wallet uses Cake Wallet's monero_c library, vtnerd's lwsf library, and Cypher Stack's Arti/Tor library.
